Installation workflow engine

Building with Control and Reliable Data

COS Business Engine includes an integrated Installation Workflow Engine that streamlines and standardizes fiber network installations from initial order through service activation. It supports flexible, configurable workflows for customer installations, ONT provisioning, and network troubleshooting—ensuring consistent execution, full traceability, and faster time-to-revenue.

Key capabilities include:

Configurable Work Orders
Operators can create detailed work orders with structured sub-tasks tailored to specific installation or troubleshooting scenarios. These work orders guide field technicians step by step, ensuring that every activity is completed, logged, and documented in accordance with defined operational standards.

Field Technician Portal
Technicians access their assigned work orders through a mobile-friendly portal that provides real-time instructions, task checklists, and customer or site information. Tasks can be marked as completed on-site, with supporting documentation such as photos, measurements, and notes uploaded directly to the work order, enabling full visibility and auditability.

Automated Provisioning
When a customer purchases a service through the customer portal, COS Business Engine automatically initiates provisioning workflows. Services such as internet or IPTV are prepared in advance and activated immediately upon completion of the physical installation, minimizing delays and manual handovers.

Real-Time Diagnostics and Validation
During installation, the system automatically collects diagnostic data, including ONT status, signal levels, and performance test results. This data supports immediate troubleshooting in the field and provides a reliable baseline for future support and service assurance.

Scheduling and Resource Planning
Work orders are scheduled to optimize technician availability and resource utilization. The workflow engine integrates with the network management system (EMS), ensuring that installation progress, network status, and provisioning updates remain synchronized across all systems.

Operational Benefits
By automating and orchestrating end-to-end installation workflows, the Installation Workflow Engine reduces manual intervention, minimizes errors, and improves operational efficiency. The result is faster, more predictable deployments, improved data quality, and a better experience for both technicians and end customers.
